Don’t despise small beginnings.

Bangkok Fellowship Church (BFC)was birthed in a home with 2 l/2 rooms dedicated for use as a Church. At the grand opening of the church, the late Acharn Veerna Raasina (missionary from Finland) spoke on the text don’t despise small beginnings from Zachariah 4:9-10. The congregation consisted of a few friends, Pastor Somkiat Kittipongse’s family,a couple of university students, and missionaries from various denominations. Their presence was greatly appreciated and a tremendous encouragement to the birth of a church in the Sukhumvit area of Bangkok.From very small humble beginnings, BFC is what it is today with 19 daughter churches and the Word of the Lord has been fulfilled in the history of BFC
As BFC celebrates its 40th anniversary, I would like to again reiterate and encourage the church, “do not despise small beginnings.” Always hold before you the vision and goal God has given to the church of going into the world and preaching the Gospel. This can be done by taking very small steps, one step at a time.
How do we start?Discover your gifts and talents that God has blessed you with.Begin to develop them by praying, studying the Word (daily devotions and journaling), and allowing the Holy Spirit to lead and guide you in whatever God calls you to do. As the old proverb goes, “a journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step.”Although you may feel what you do is insignificant because no one sees what you are doing, remember God is watching over you. Be faithful in whatever you are called do because you are doing it as unto the Lord.Don’t be afraid to start small, everyone is a beginner some time. The most important step you can take is to begin today.
Congratulations on the 40th anniversary. My prayer is that you will never lose the vision of winning the unsaved to the Lord Jesus Christ and living a life of faith, obedience, and trust. The greatest legacy that one can leave is their faith in the eternal God.

คริสตจักรสามัคคีธรรมกรุงเทพ เริ่มขึ้นที่บ้านเช่า ซึ่งได้ถวายให้ใช้เป็นคริสตจักร ในวันเปิดโบสถ์ อาจารย์ เวอเนอร์ ราสิน่า มิชชั่นนารีจากฟินแลนด์ ได้เทศนาจากพระคำเศคาริยาห์ 4:9-10 ว่า “อย่าดูหมิ่นวันแห่งการเริ่มต้นเล็กๆ” วันนั้น ที่ประชุมประกอบขึ้นด้วยเพื่อนๆ เพียงไม่กี่คน ครอบครัวของอาจารย์สมเกียรติ กิตติพงศ์ นักศึกษาจากมหาวิทยาลัย 2 คน และมิชชั่นนารีจากหลายคณะ ที่มาร่วมแสดงความยินดีกับการเปิดโบสถ์ และหนุนใจคริสตจักรใหม่บนถนนสุขุมวิท การจากเริ่มต้นขึ้นด้วยใจถ่อม วันนี้คริสตจักรสามัคคีธรรมกรุงเทพ มีคริสตจักรลูก 19 แห่ง พระวจนะของพระองค์ก็สำเร็จในประวัติของคริสตจักรสามัคคีธรรมกรุงเทพ
ในวาระที่คริสตจักรฉลองครบรอบ 40 ปี ดิฉันขอกล่าวและหนุนน้ำใจคริสตจักรอีกครั้งหนึ่งว่า “อย่าดูหมิ่นการเริ่มต้นงานเล็กๆ” จงยึดนิมิตและเป้าหมายที่พระเจ้าทรงมอบให้แก่ท่าน ออกไปยังโลกกว้างเพื่อประกาศกิตติคุณ ซึ่งทำได้ โดยเริ่มย่างก้าวเล็กๆ ไปทีละก้าว
เราจะเริ่มอย่างไร? อันดับแรก ค้นให้พบว่าท่านมีตะลันหรือของประทานอะไร จงพัฒนาของประทานนั้นด้วยการอธิษฐาน ศึกษาพระวจนะ เข้าเฝ้าประจำวัน ให้พระวิญญาณทรงนำพา ไม่ว่าพระองค์จะใช้ให้ท่านทำอะไร เหมือนภาษิตที่กล่าวว่า “การเดินทางพันลี้ เริ่มขึ้นจากก้าวแรก” แม้ท่านอาจรู้สึกว่าสิ่งที่ท่านทำไม่โดดเด่นเพราะไม่มีใครเห็น แต่โปรดระลึกเสมอว่าพระเจ้าทรงเฝ้าดูท่านอยู่ จงสัตย์ซื่อในทุกสิ่งที่พระเจ้าทรงเรียกให้ท่านทำ โปรดระลึกว่าท่านทำเพื่อถวายพระเกียรติ อย่ากลัวการเริ่มต้นแต่น้อย คนเรามักมีเวลาของการเริ่มต้นน้อยๆเสมอ ก้าวสำคัญที่สุดของท่านคือก้าวแรกที่ท่านเริ่มต้นวันนี้
ขอแสดงความยินดีกับ การฉลองครบรอบ 40 ปี คำอธิษฐานของดิฉันก็คือ ท่านจะไม่ละทิ้งนิมิตการนำวิญญาณผู้คนมาถึงพระเยซูคริสต์ จงดำเนินชีวิตด้วยความเชื่อ เชื่อฟัง และไว้วางใจพระเจ้า มรดกใหญ่ที่สุด ซึ่งท่านมอบให้ คือความเชื่อในพระเจ้าผู้ทรงพระชนม์อยู่นิรันดร์ของคนทั้งหลาย
