The form of worship has changed. Previously, worship for God is done through living sacrifices where animals are killed and burnt. But during King David`s period, it has been changed to that of songs in the form of hymns. During the 40 years of wilderness wandering, the Israelites have to build altars and temples in the stops they make, but during King David`s time, a temple and place of worship was built in Jerusalem.
Asaph was part of King David`s team of song worshippers. Asaph was serving God in the songs and worship and had a chance to be near to God. In Psalm 73, the personal feelings of Asaph was revealed when he looked at some people who are doing bad things and still receiving better things than he is getting although he is doing good things serving God. This made him want to leave the service and move out to do things on his own so that he can reap the rewards that he see other people are getting.
Eventually Asaph realized that people who are close to God actually have a longer and better life than people who are far away from God or abandon God. This is applicable to our lives as many times we feel discouraged serving God when we face problems and when our prayers are not answered or our lives do no run the way we want to, and we get really tired and want to leave God.
In Genesis, God create from darkness and nothingness. God created men in His likeness and gave them a soul and freedom to make choices. In John 1:14 God shows us the glory of His one and only son who came to earth to die for our sins on Calvary. God sent Jesus to the earth so that all walls are torn down and we have direct contact with God and can contact Him directly, unlike before in the old testament where we have to pass through living sacrifices and temples are shielded by the veil where the special room can only be entered by the priests that have direct access to God. Because of Jesus, now everyone including Jews and Gentiles, as long as we accept Jesus as our savior, we have the Holy Spirit to live within us, and to teach and guide us in our daily walk with Jesus, and to live our lives to be more like Jesus. In Hebrews 9:3-4, it states that we have to keep our lives holy and pure, and the Holy Spirit will be there to remind and help us, and teach us when we do wrong.
