Fishing Expedition in Finland

Some Christian friends of mine include me in their party when they set out for a day of boating, swimming and fishing on a lake not far from Joensuu (Finland).  It turned out to be a day to remember.

Several valuable lessons were learnt that day. (1) Fishes don’t jump into our baskets; we have to go to them. (2) Fish will come only for the right bait. (3) There is a definite time or season for fishing. (4) There are more fish in certain places than there are in others. For example, we were in one place for over two hours and caught only 10 fishes, whereas half an hour in another place yielded over 65 fishes. (5) Fishing involves teamwork, patience, stickability. (6) Fish caught should be kept in a basket.

Apply these facts to soul-winning, for our Lord said: “Follow me and I will make you fishers of men”(Luke 5:10).
