How can we Practice enthusiasm daily?

Norman Vincent Peale

He stared at the paper: “Practice enthusiasm daily.” He looks at me in bewilderment. “But I haven’t any enthusiasm. I ‘ve got it before I can practice it.”

“Oh, No,” I said “put the shoe on the other foot. Start practicing it and you will have it.”  So I started him on the first lesson. “Get up and walk around the room and start listening the things you see that bring out enthusiasm.” He did.

“O. K. Mark them down number one. Just think of having two feet. How would you feel if you have only one or may be none? There’s nothing like two good old big feet especially when you have legs to go with them.”

“Never thought of that,” he said.

“Yes, I know there are a lot of things you have never thought of but you ‘re going to change your mental processes. What else do you see?”  I asked.

“My hands, arms, eyes, noses, mouth, head_ I’m way ahead of you.” Indeed, he caught on fast. “Look at sunshine pouring into this room.”

After that “Sure let us pray,” I said, “Well, start praying,” I prompted.

“Oh, you want me to pray? I’m not into the habit,”

“No, better time than now to get you into the habit,” I replied.

“Dear Lord,” he said hesitantly, “I don’t want to be what I have been any more, I ‘m not going to be. Thanks for everything. Please give me enthusiasm for my job, for my life, for everything. Lord, You’re wonderful, Amen.”

“How come you added that last line?” I asked curiously.

“I don’t know; it just came over me that He is wonderful.”

Enthusiasm come when we see how much God has done the wonderful things to us, isn’t it?
