Silence …The best answer

G D  James

      John Wesley. The   great Methodist   preacher is reported to have observed two women.  One was speaking vehemently and gesticulating wildly, while the other stood tranquilly by. Not saying a word.

      Finally the woman got a little tired of the other’s silence, and shouted:

       “Speak,  So that I may have something  to say to you!”

      Wesley said nothing taught him better than that  scene that silence is often  the best answer to abuse.

        Word are thing of little cost

        Quickly spoken , quickly lost;

        We forget them, but they stand

        Witnesses  at God’s right hand
