He is risen indeed!  ( Luke 24:34)

Luke 24:13-35
Jesus was crucified on a Friday. Joseph, a rich man, asked Pilate to release Jesus and buried Him in an empty tomb.
He used a linen cloth to wrap Jesus up and put Him in a tomb on Saturday.
On Sunday (Easter Day) there was an earthquake and two angels opened the entrance of the tomb by moving the stone.
Normally it will need at least 6 able men to move it.
A  few women went to the tomb, found it opened and Jesus was no longer there. Then two angels came and asked
why they were crying, as Jesus had risen! Mary Magdalene was crying and met Jesus for the first time.
The women ran to look for the disciples to tell them. The disciples did not believe and Peter and John rushed to the tomb and
found it empty.
Jesus met Peter.
In the afternoon of Easter, one of the disciples,  (outside of the 12 disciples), named Cleopas and another man was walking
when Jesus joined them. They were on their way to Emmaus.
Jesus asked them what they were discussing. They mentioned Jesus of Nazareth, where He was sentenced to death and crucified.
They hoped that Jesus was going to redeem Israel.
Jesus chided them for believing the rumours.
Jesus stayed with them, broke bread and gave to them and their eyes were opened and realised it was Jesus.

Paul says that if Jesus did not die, the promise of God would not have been proven.
Jesus was the first to rise, opening the way for all the Christians. Jesus has also met Paul the way way too,
like He met the two disciples.
The two disciples did not remember Jesus. Has that happened to us before too? We may be so caught up with our troubles
that we do not remember or recognise Jesus. Jesus is always there to help us.

Lessons learnt from the two disciples.
1. The 2 disciples misunderstood Jesus. They claimed that Jesus was a prophet.
Jesus is much more than being a prophet!
2.  Jesus agreed to "lose" just to be victorious ( Victory by Loss)
3.  When they heard the news of Jesus , they did not believe. V 22-24. They were blurred
4.  When we ask something from God, we focus on what we want but God may have given us
something better but we did not recognise it. God will always give us something better
5.  V27. Jesus explained to them what was said in the scriptures concerning Jesus.
6. Their eyes were opened and they recognised Jesus  Vs 31-32 They returned to Jerusalem (11 KM away)
and rushed to tell the others, and said it was true! The Lord Has risen!

Questions to ask
1. Have you experienced closeness to Jesus today?
2. What do you share and speak with Jesus?
