Matthew 18: 3-4

And he said:"truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven."

 

The disciples asked, who is the biggest in heaven?

Jesus compares to the children.

Actually children have many bad points

-short attention span, unreasonableness etc

But Jesus compares children saying the people in heaven are like children

Sin starts when we have a choice and made the wrong choice.

If we do not repent truly, it will be hard to enter heaven.

 

1) children are innocent and not complicated

Straightforward and no fakeness

Jesus criticize Pharisees as being fake

Jesus teaches us to repent and to be like children.

 

2) children are humble

Adults discriminate against others but children do not have discriminations.

Accepts everyone as the same.

Humility is accepting ourselves as we are

Example disciples do not wash their feet and ask others to wash for them, the younger disciples

But Jesus used his towel and washed the feet for all disciples

Be a nobody in state of a somebody.

 

3) children trust people

Adults have a lot of doubts and mistrust and troubles

They do not have peace

Jesus wants us to trust in Him.

As Christians there is no need to have sleepless nights. we have to be confident.

 

4) Romans 12:9

Bless those who persecute you, bless and do not curse.

Rejoice with those who rejoice, mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another.

Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position.

 

5) children forgives easily

Jesus teaches us to forgive seven x 70 times

Jesus forgive the people who tortured Him when He was on the cross.

 

6) children are teachable

Easy to teach and not stubborn

To be teachable is a child of God

 

Adults (the good points)

 

1 Cor 13:11

When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, i reasoned like a child.

When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.

 

Adults are thinking people. They are tolerant and makes decisions between choices

Adults can control emotions if they want, unlike children.

Therefore it is good to possess good qualities of adults, and add those missing children good qualities.

Humility and willingness to learn some of the qualities we may lack as adults.

 

 

1) repent our sins

We enter the heavens using the same door, so everyone has to repent.

2) learn to be humble

Be teachable

3) have unconditional faith

4) follow God`s path

5) except God`s blessing and always remember that God can help us
