Good Friday Message  (Luke 23:35-43)
Speaker: Pastor Somkiat

The Via Dolorosa. Jesus had to carry the cross (about 150kg) up and down via Dolorosa.
Pontius Pilate wanted to help Jesus but the people were not willing.
Along the way there were people who pitied Jesus.. like the women who followed along.
Good Friday is a sad day, but also a good day, as it helps many people and many people are saved.
Crucifixion is a very cruel way of death sentence. Some people were on the cross for seven days before dying.
Jesus chose it to show His ultimate love for all of us.
Calvary or Golgotha. Jesus was compared to the two criminals on Golgotha.
The vision of the cross is to show us that God sent Jesus to clear us of our sins.
Mary Magdalene and John the disciple were with Jesus. The rest of the disciples were gone.

The Jews jeered at Jesus. Jesus helped so many people but did not try to save Himself.
He can do it but He did not as He had to go through the crucifiction to cleanse us of our sins.
The Bible emphasizes the crucifixion as the most important event in the Bible. The Bible
concentrates and pinpoints on the events leading to the crucifixion. Colossians 1:14
in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

The cross is the bridge that leads us to Jesus. Colossians 1:22-23
But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation—
if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel.
This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.
Jesus forgave the religious leaders even though they did Him wrong.

Luke 23:39  One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!”
Many people in this world are also like this criminal.  But the other criminal rebuked him and repented. and he was forgiven
and saved. One criminal was not saved, whereas the other one was saved. He had faith and believed in Jesus. John 3:19
This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.

The three crosses
1. Cleanse our sins
2. Sinful criminal
3. Repentant and forgiven criminal

Three steps:
Repent, Believe and Follow His steps.
